Senior Portfolio

My portfolio was inspired by the video game Gorogoa, it is a puzzle game where the player connects parts of different images to solve puzzles and as more puzzles are solved more of the story is revealed.  I liked the way that the different puzzles are all connected and told more of the story the more it is played and wanted to use that aspect to create my project.  Gorogoa uses hand-drawn images to create their puzzles. I wanted to create a world that seemed fantasy-like by combining images of the places in the real world.  Each of the places have some form of transitional aspect to them, such as a doorway, path, arch, etc. that I used to create the portal and aid in telling the story.  I used photoshop to create my images by layering one photo over the next photo in the series.  Then, I masked the part of the image that is within the transitional part of the photo, to reveal the image that is behind it.  I used this technique in every photo to make the portals that connect one image to the next in the way that Gorogoa’s puzzles connect one part of the story to the next.
